Monica Cook

Dalton, Georgia

Multimedia artist and SCAD alumna Monica Cook (B.F.A., painting, 1996) finds objects and materials for her work in places both obvious and unusual. Her artwork is influenced by realism and surrealism, with an oeuvre including animation, photography, painting and sculpture. A native of Dalton, Georgia, Cook has been exhibited throughout the world, including at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, New York; Bilbao, Spain; Venice, Italy and Berlin, Germany. Solo exhibitions include Marcia Wood Gallery and Atlanta Celebrates Photography, Atlanta, Georgia, and Postmasters Gallery, New York, which currently represents her. Past residencies include the School of Visual Arts, New York, and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, Maine. Cook lives and works in New York.
