Radcliffe Bailey

Radcliffe Bailey (1953-2023) was an Atlanta-based visual artist who explored themes of race and memory by layering found objects, such as tintypes of his family members, piano keys and Georgia red clay. Represented by Jack Shainman Gallery, New York, New York, Bailey has exhibited nationally and internationally, including in the inaugural installation of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, Washington, D.C., and at the SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, Georgia. Public collections featuring his work include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas; and the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Georgia. Bailey earned a B.F.A. from the Atlanta College of Art in Georgia. He is from Bridgeton, New Jersey.
