NEW YORK CITY & MEXICO CITY (Thursday, April 29, 2021) – MexTour, the best-attended annual soccer tour across the United States, is returning to Atlanta. The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) today announced that Mexico will take on Concacaf rival Honduras on Saturday, June 12, at 7:30 p.m. ET, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The match will be key as both Mexico and Honduras make final preparations ahead of the region’s top national team competition, the Concacaf Gold Cup, which starts in July.

Tickets for the Atlanta match will go on sale to the general public on Monday, May 10th, at 10 a.m. E.T. via www.MexTour.org.  Fans in attendance will be required to adhere to all MexTour, stadium, and local health guidelines, including mandatory facemask use, and frictionless transactions. MexTour fans can now book their hotel accommodations to the match through the official MexTour hotel link, https://hotels.mextour.org/.

One of the top venues in the world and the home of Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United and the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Stadium hosted the Mexican National Team in 2019, recording a 3-1 win over Venezuela in front of nearly 52,000 fans. This match also marked Mexico Manager Tata Martino’s return to the venue where he won MLS Cup with Atlanta United in 2018.  Mexico has played in Atlanta on several occasions since making its first visit in 2009.

Mexico and Honduras have battled on 37 occasions, with the “Tricolor” posting 23 wins, eight draws and six losses.  Their last meeting was October 10, 2017 at a FIFA World Cup qualifying match won by Honduras 3-2 in San Pedro Sula. The “Catrachos” have qualified for three previous FIFA World Cups.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Mexico will begin the 2021 MexTour against Iceland at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium – presented by AT&T.  Tickets to the Dallas match are currently available at www.MexTour.org. In addition, at least three additional games are expected to be added to the tour this year, with opponents, dates, and locations to be announced.
